The Village of Arcade Department of Public Works is responsible for providing and maintaining the electric, water and sewer utilities  to residents of the area in addition to maintaining the Village streets and parks.  Each Department is responsible for its own finances and is  funded entirely by revenues collected from its own rate schedules.

The Department of Public Works is responsible for the construction, repair, maintenance and cleaning of all Village streets, culverts, storm sewers, sidewalks and trees within the  street right-of-way; the operation and maintenance of the sanitary sewers, lift stations, and the Wastewater Treatment Plant; the maintenance, repair and upgrade of the springs, wells and reservoirs and water distribution system and the operation and maintenance of the electric transmission line, the four substations, over 300 miles of electric distribution system and the street lighting system.
