Streets / Parks

The Village Streets and Parks Department maintains the Village Streets, storm sewers and sidewalks. The three Village owned parks; the Sullivan Mini-park, the Fireman’s Park and the Village Park are also the responsibility of the Department.

The Village is responsible for about 9.5 miles of streets. Along these streets there are about 15 miles of sidewalks and another 5 miles along state Routes 39 and 98. During the winter, the Department plows all streets and applies salt and/or sand to the streets, although we are using mostly straight salt. We also assist the property owners with plowing the sidewalks when Village time and equipment allow. In the fall, leaves are collected and hauled away. Spring and summer is spent maintaining the streets and storm sewers. Street maintenance consists of chip sealing or repaving. In some cases, a complete rebuild of the street is necessary.

Brush and yard waste is collected every Monday. Grass and leaves are to be placed in non-reusable containers weighing less than 40 pounds. Brush and branches are to be cut into sections of 4’ or less and bundled together. The total weight of each bundle is not to exceed 40 pounds.
